Mabel

Whoops! We get so many sad backstories, we were bound to eventually get a couple of them crossed up. We’ve edited this post to correct that.

These poor hound mixes were living outside with no fence on a busy road and were in danger of getting hit. A Good Samaritan neighbor, who is also one of our fosters, reached out to see if we could help. Our Southern counterparts talked to the owners and found they were extremely worried about the pups and unsure what to do.

A pregnant dog had been dumped off near their home and had had her puppies under their house. When they called the shelter for help, they loaned them a trap, which the dog was much to smart to go into. We are still trying to figure out a plan to capture her and get her fixed. The folks knew that going to the shelter with the pups wasn’t a good plan, but they didn’t want to give them away locally either. They were so grateful to us when we agreed to take them into our rescue. This was the best possible outcome for these sweet puppies.

Mom is some sort of shepherd dog – maybe Australian (see pic). Dad is unknown, but we’re guessing hound mix based on the puppies appearance. We think they are about 13 weeks old. Even though their life didn’t start out great, they are all happy and playful pups and are looking forward to their furever home.
